The History of the Locality
The village of Cârţăţeni was formed in the year 1651. A road passed through the village, connecting the south of the country with the central markets of Căuşeni, Tighina, and others. Those who came from great distances found the place suitable for resting overnight, where there was enough fodder for the cattle, and under the forest’s edge, they could shelter from winds and rain. Since the native population was engaged in cattle raising, meals were more often prepared with meat, especially small sausages, which eventually gave the village its name, Cârţăţeni. Over time, as more inhabitants settled, partial deforestation of the land began, along with the cultivation of cereals.
